As a first-generation Trinidadian immigrant, Marina’s strong work ethic and integrity were instilled in her by her parents. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the prestigious Cornell University and a Master of Science in Communications from Walden University.
With experience working in the Solid Waste Management Department for the City of Houston, Marina enjoyed being part of making positive changes for the community.
Marina’s professional background includes roles at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, McDonald’s franchise owners, and her own boutique public relations business, Refined Communications LLC.
Since 2019, she has also served as Communications Director for Texas State Representative Senfronia Thompson.
Marina’s servant-leadership style is reflected in her community involvement, including the Houston Area Urban League and her work as founder of SunArise International Ministries.
